Introduction
OVERVIEW OF THE UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT CENTRE:

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education offers education and non-education related
programmes from Bachelor’s degree to doctorate in the fields of Management Sciences,
Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, Agricultural Science, and Vocational/Technical Education. All programmes of
the University are recognized and fully accredited by the National Universities Commission.
The postgraduate programme of the University has been adjudged the fastest growing
programme in Sub Sahara Africa. For instance, the Master’s programmes in Maritime,
Transportation Systems and Port Management are run in collaboration with key players in
the maritime industry. The former Vice Chancellor of the University, professor Ozo- Mekuri
Ndimele in less than three years transformed the academic and developmental landscape
of the University to global relevance and visibility.

 
MANDATE:
The University Advancement Centre was established to address the challenges of global competition in university education in terms of research, innovation, and access to intervention funding for academic and developmental priorities in the University. The University Advancement Centre (UAC) was established in
2017 by the former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele. The core mandate of the
Centre are as follows:
 
OUR CORE MANDATE:
  1. To explore partnerships and linkages with private and public
    institutions locally and internationally to secure
    resources to promote institutional goals and programmes.
  2. To initiate and sustain action in the areas of endowments, donations,
    scholarships, prizes, and other forms of assistance from the private sector
    and individuals to deliver results in institutional programmes.
  3. To serve as a resource database for assisting staff seeking scholarships,
    research grants, fellowships, sabbatical attachment, and postgraduate
    internship as part of their professional development.
  4. To play a major role in the overall effort to ensure that the university
    develops according to its strategic plan, while ensuring flexibility to
    reflect emerging global initiatives in university advancement.5) To provide a forum for academic staff to showcase their significant
    research findings, organising workshops, seminars, and conferences for
    the overall advancement of knowledge in the university.
  5. To create an enabling environment that supports philanthropy and
    building relationships with alumni and other stakeholders with the aim of
    securing financial support for the University.
  6. To coordinate protocols, reception, and welfare of visitors on exchange and
    linkage programmes in the university.

Dr. Emmanuel C. Ibara, an associate Professor of Educational management is the Ag. Director of the Centre.
There are 3 support staff of the Centre includes:

PROPOSED PROJECTS REQUIRING FUNDING:
1. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

  •  Three (3) blocks of three-story buildings for undergraduate male hostels- 200
    rooms per block with lobbies and rooms for porters and portresses.
  •  Three (3) blocks of three-story buildings for undergraduate female hostels- 200
    roos per block with lobbies and rooms for porters and portresses.
  •  Three (3) blocks of three-story buildings for postgraduate male hostels- 200
    rooms per block with lobbies and rooms for porters.
  •  Three (3) blocks of three-story buildings for postgraduate female hostels- 200
    rooms per block with lobbies and rooms for porters and portresses.
    Hostel accommodation is very essential, and the welfare and security of our students are our
    priority. These hostels will enable students to get conducive and affordable
    accommodation with adequate security. It will also curb the menace of incessant
    harassment suffered by our students who reside outside the university campuses.

ESTIMATED COST:

N300,000,000.00 each (N3,600,000.00).

2. STAFF RESIDENTIAL QUARTERS:
Six (6) blocks of two-story buildings for staff residential quarters – Six (6) units of
2 bedroom flats per block.

  •  Six (6) blocks of twin duplexes for staff residential quarters – 3 bedrooms on the
    upper floor, with a visitor’s room on the ground floor.
  • Staff school. A block of 18 classrooms and offices for teachers.
    The provision of additional accommodation for university staff guarantees efficiency
    effectiveness and dedication to duty. The staff school will also provide a conducive and
    qualitative learning environment for children and wards of staff of the university.
    Estimated cost:
    A) 6 blocks of 2 story building at N85,000,000.00 (N510,000.00)
    B) 6 blocks of twin duplexes: N55,000,000.00 each (N330,000,000.00)
    C) Staff School: N50,000.000.00

3. CONVOCATION ARENA AND AMPHITHEATER:

  •  Convocation arena: 10,000 seating capacity with open space
  •  Amphitheater: 5,000 seating capacity hall with gallery
    the need for a convocation arena and Amphitheatre for the university is long overdue
    because the existing facility can no longer accommodate the university community and her
    quest during functions. The convocation arena will provide accommodation for the
    university during her matriculation and convocation ceremonies, while the Amphitheatre
    will be used for conferences, workshops, and other social activities that may require large
    participants.
    ESTIMATED COST:
  • Convocation Arena: N400,000,000.00
  • Amphitheatre: N600,000,000.00

4. INTERNAL ROADS:

  • Link road: link road between the main campus and the new layout campus with
    adequate drainages.
  • Circular road: At the centre of the main campus, with adequate drainages.
  • The link road will connect the new layout and the main campus. The need for the link road is to provide for expansion of the main campus which is already congested while the circular road will provide for easy access to existing facilities within the main campus.

ESTIMATED COST:

  • Link road: N150,000,000.00
  • Circular road: N50,000,000.00

5. DEVELOPMENT OF IAUE SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
This scholarship fund will enable the university to assist indigent but academically – focused
and brilliant students who cannot afford the payment of the relevant fees, to continue and
complete their academic programmes.
