RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT (R&D)
Mission: Our mission is to strengthen research activities in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education for innovation and the development of the Nigeria Nation.
Vision: Our vision is to bring about innovation and development through strategic research (basic and applied) and to bridge the gap between researchers and users (by bringing together research and industry) with a focus on government-defined priority area.
Objectives:
- To enlighten researchers on the necessity for research, aside generating papers for promotion purposes;
- To expose young researchers to modern research methods;
- To educate young researchers on how to acquire the skill for writing and preparing grant-winning proposals;
- To expose researchers to innovative or problem-solving research that creates products and leads to national development.
Professor Kemka H. Ogbonda
DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
SPEECH:
Professor Kemka Humphrey Ogbonda holds a BSc (Botany) and MSc (Microbiology) degrees of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also holds a PhD (Microbiology) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) of the University of Port Harcourt.
Kemka H. Ogbonda is a Professor of Environmental and Applied Microbiology at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, port Harcourt, where he has held several positions including:
- Director, School of Basic Studies; o Head, St. John’s Diobu Campus;
- Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences
- Presently he is Director, Directorate of Research and Development of the University.
Professor K.H. Ogbonda has authored and co-authored over 70 publications including Journal articles and books. He belongs to several professional bodies both local and international, including:
- Member, Institute of Biology (MIBiol), United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland;
- chartered Biologist (cBiol), Institute of Biology, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland; and
- Honorary Rosalind Member of London Jomalist Press (United Kingdom);
- He is visible on Researchgate, Googlescholar, publons.
 Professor Ogbonda is married with children.
