Profile
Prof Geraldine Umoh Amba Ekpo was born on the 22nd July 1973 into the families of Late Major E. Amba Ekpo and Chief Mrs Affiong A. Amba all of Eyo-Abasi in Oron Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State. She had her primary, secondary and University Education in Ikeja Cantonment, Command Secondary School Jos Plateau and University of Ibadan, Ibadan respectively all in Nigeria. While schooling Prof Geradine Ekpo Lived with her adopted parents Prof Alex and Prof Adiaha Egwumba from secondary school up till she barged Doctor of Philosophy Degree.
Prof Geraldine Umoh Amba Ekpo after graduating started working at Bells University of Technology Otta, Ogun State as a Non-Teaching staff for 2years after which she applied to work as a teaching Staff in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State in 2008, she has grown through the ranks from Lecturer 1 in 2008 to the rank of Professor of Organization and Sport Administration in 2020. She has served the University in more than 10 capacities among others are: Head, Department of Human Kinetics, Health and Safety Education, member University health committee, students adviser, organizing member NICEGA games held in Warri, Delta State and Kano State respectively among others.
As an academia Prof Ekpo is a member of several professional bodies among which are International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance, ICHPER-SD, Nigerian Association of Sports Science and Medicine (NASSM) and Nigeria Society for Sports Management. She has over 38 articles published in reputable journals both local, national and international
Professor Ekpo is married and blessed with a child and numerous others she adopted as a result of her motherly virtues
